October Affirmations 2026
I’ve been thinking, and talking to a couple of close Loved Ones, a lot lately, about neutrality. This past month was one of being reminded - being still enough to be reminded. One of those reminders is of a belief I picked up years ago - God, Allah, Jah, Source, The Essence, The Universe, however You feel called to name it, it is neutral. There are things that exist, things that happen, responses to those happenings, but it is Us, human beings, who decide whether those things are good, bad, a sign, humbling, whether they mean anything at all. We give meaning to all that is, all that touches Us, all we have access to, so we must be aware of the source within Us that we are allowing to do the naming.
“We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are.” -Anaïs Nin
I was also reminded, via my bimonthly therapy session, of the anxiety I have, the anxiety I've been diagnosed with, rather. I try to be really careful with wording around the depression and anxiety I’ve experienced, I don’t want to claim it. That, however, comes from my human experience of deciding what things mean - clearly, somewhere down the line, I decided that it was a bad omen to have depression and anxiety. This colors the way I see many things in my life, I’m noticing. There are times when I’m not just labeling with depression and/or anxiety, I’m labeling with my belief that depression and anxiety serve no positive purpose, that they are a hinderance.
I talked with my therapist about all of the invisible pressures that I place on myself - my being absolutely anal about being on time, my writing coming out on a certain day and in a certain way, the quality of my work at my 9-5 (depending on who is watching, even though I’ve maintained high recognition for all the years I’ve been at my job). So many things. My therapist reminded Me of the benefit of being clear with myself when anxiety is at the wheel. Just name it - know it’s not all You - know that You can manage it, that You can breathe through it, and take it from there.
Take the work example, seeing things neutrally and trusting that everything always works out for my highest good, somehow; I’d have approached this past week calmly, knowing that things will get done and the things that don’t can be done another day. How did I go about approaching this past week, however? Ha! I came in early, I worked late, I missed a whole meal, even. If You know Me, You KNOW that’s not Me! No one expected this of Me, there was no all hands on deck meetings that left Me thinking that this was needed. So, why was I acting this way? I was anxious and seeing things from anxiety’s lens.
Gratefully, I’ve been reeled back in. Now, it doesn’t mean it won’t happen again, per se. We are in a season that I care about, I want to execute things well. The difference though is that I will be pausing, asking myself what’s driving my actions, breathing through it, and moving forward with more intention. This, of course, takes work. It is much “easier” to just stay on autopilot, ignoring our bodies’ soft and not so soft calls, but it is worth it to pause and take inventory.
“In what way am I seeing this situation?” “How do I know my perception is true?” “What is leading Me as I navigate this situation/this season/this challenge?”
When I excavated a bit, I found some lingering fears of being unworthy. Unchecked, that’ll make anyone run themselves ragged to prove their worth, to prove that they’re good enough to be in the room they were already granted access to. I can name this, give it some empathy, soothe it, breathe through it, and decide from a clearer space how I should move forward. This work is cyclical, repetitive, I’ll forget again, I’m sure, but then I’ll get right back to shaping this work into a habit - until it is as prominent as the 30-something years of programming I am committed to unlearning.
Here are some affirmations to assist in this work:
I am actively choosing the way I see the world.
I give grace to versions of Me who only learned to survive.
I am intentionally choosing my beliefs.
I always have time to pause, breathe, and decide from a clear space.
I am grateful that I see myself clearly.
I release doubt and fear and limit their ability to guide Me.
I am powerful.
Sending so much Love into the month of October, the start of the last quarter of this year (wow). There is much to see clearly and much to be done from the lens of Love.
